Volkswagen is presenting a new top model for the ID.3 series. Now that prototypes have already been sighted, the ID.3 GTX promises impressive dynamics of the "most powerful Volkswagen electric motor". The sporty model, together with a new generation of the infotainment system, is expected to generate enthusiasm.

Volkswagen ID.3 GTX: Engine, battery and range
Touted as the "most powerful Volkswagen electric motor", the new ID.3 GTX starts with two engine variants: the standard model with 210 kW (286 hp) and a more powerful variant with 240 kW (326 hp). This means that the performance model manages to sprint to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and represents an electric variant on a par with the sporty combustion engines in the Golf GTI. Volkswagen has also kept an eye on performance when it comes to the battery, with a 79 kWh battery with 175 kW charging power. This is supposed to charge the battery from 10 to 80% within 26 minutes. Volkswagen specifies the range at 600 km.
Volkswagen ID.3 GTX: Exterior design
In terms of design, Volkswagen has focused on establishing a differentiated look from the other vehicles in the series. For this purpose, the front bumper has been modified and now has an independent, black, diamond-shaped air intake. In addition, VW has used daytime running light elements, which are one of the GTX-specific features in the shape of arrowheads.
On the sides, not only the exterior mirror caps stand out, but also the roof trim strips and independent side skirts are intended to underline the sporty character of the car. On top of that, there are new 20-inch "Skagen" rims with a two-tone design.
Volkswagen has also installed GTX-specific elements in the rear section. Here, of course, the new diffuser is the most prominent. The GTX model designation can be found directly below the VW logo, so that together with the LED strip on the tailgate, a new look is created.

Volkswagen ID.3 GTX: Innendesign und Infotainment
Im Innenraum gibt es serienmäßig Sportsitze für dynamischen Komfort und sind zusammen mit den GTX-Schriftzügen Teil des sportlichen Charakters des ID.3 GTX. Neu ist auch die eigenständige Instrumententafel. Herzstück ist jedoch das neue Infotainment-System.
Hier soll ein deutlich größerer 12,9-Zoll Touchscreen und eine neue Menüstruktur für bessere Bedienung sorgen. VW hat auch den neuen Sprachassistenten IDA eingebaut, dieser bietet neben Sprachsteuerung und Zugriff auf Online-Datenbanken zur Beantwortung von Fragen auch eine Integration mit der künstlichen Intelligenz von ChatGPT. So lassen sich nicht nur aktuelle Nachrichten oder das Wetter abfragen, sondern auch Recherche-Ergebnisse in den Datenbanken von ChatGPT erfragen.
Daneben hat VW auch eine neue “Wellness-App” gebaut, die das Wohlbefinden während der Fahrt oder bei Pausen im Auge behält. Dazu gibt es die drei Modi “Erfrischung”, “Entspannung” oder “Pause”, die durch Soundkulissen, Klimatisierung sowie Ambientebeleuchtung für Komfort sorgen sollen.
Volkswagen ID.3 GTX: Preis und Verkaufsstart
Pre-sale of the ID.3 GTX is now possible. The new ID.3 GTX Performance starts at a list price of 52,295 euros, while the "normal" ID.3 GTX is available from 50,795 euros. The basic model of the ID.3 starts at the base price of 36,900 euros, so the GTX versions cost a decent surcharge.
